THE SINGLETON OF DUFFTOWN MALT MASTER'S SELECTION
Nose: Sultanas and cake batter (more like undercooked sponge cake, as picked out by sharp-nosed brand ambassador Ervin Trykowski), floral hints, perfumed oak, creamy vanilla, candied apples, barley sugar and a scrape of orange zest.
Palate: Toffee and cream with juicy oranges and zesty lemon. Fresh orchard fruit leads to richer, cooked-down fruit – ripe pear and sweet apples to baked apples and spiced poached pears. There’s some pepper and cinnamon heat, and stoney minerality, although that disappears under toffee apple sweetness.
Finish: Orange-flecked sponge cake fades to apple skin and a spicy oak.
